• SAN ANTONIO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS

We are San Antonio wedding photographers David and Irene Castillo of Expose The Heart Photography. This blog is kind of the viewfinder of our lives as San Antonio photographers. Fifteen years ago we started doing photography as more of a hobby. . As our love for one another grew from friendship to more; so did our love and passion for photography. So we decided start a San Antonio wedding photography studio. We look at life as an adventure and are happy to share the journey with you good or bad! On this blog you will see our lives as San Antonio photographers as well as peek into our day to day lives.

We photograph more than San Antonio weddings and more than San Antonio wedding photographers. We also have a thriving San Antonio portrait photography business as well that includes newborn photography, baby photography, family photography, high school senior photography, real estate photography, and commercial photography. We can even take your picture using film formats as well since we have our own darkroom.

San Antonio Weddings Magazine: Expose The Heart is on the cover!

San Antonio Weddings Magazine has us on the cover of the magazine released for March/April 2015 and has featured one of our weddings inside! It’s very weird for me to boast about the accomplishments we have made as a business and makes me very uneasy when my friends tease with “OMG Irene you’re famous!” kinda comments. 😉 David and I do feel happy about the experience and super blessed to meet crazy cool (not just cool, but “crazy cool”) people and document their lives. We are extremely excited that San Antonio Weddings Magazine has featured our work and that the covers are picked by real brides. I feel safe to say these ladies have great taste! 😉  Okay Okay, maybe I’m a bit biased, but at the same time this post is about celebrating us right? lol I can’t seem to stop smiling these days and it’s kinda awesome. Our hearts are humbled by our clients, friends, family and God for the love you provide us. We’ve been receiving emails, text messages, and phone calls from friends, family, and past clients who have spotted our magazine cover at Barnes and Nobles, H-E-B, CVS and who knows where else! We love the support and the photos of you guys with the magazine. These images are encouraging and make our hearts full. If you haven’t had a chance to see the magazine yet or would like to grab a copy of your own. Stop by your local Barnes and Noble to get yours.

I’d also like to take this time to apologize to those of you who follow this blog as it has been a little hit and miss for the past couple of months. We started the blog with the intent to share a little of our life with all of our viewers and clients and as a way to highlight each one you on our journey of photographing your lives.

Expose the Heart has never been so busy! (We’re not complaining either) As a matter of fact we’re pretty excited that we have been too busy to keep up with posts and normal day to day social media fun stuff. We are totally fine with it, because it means we are spending more time with you guys in person! 😉

We promise to continue sharing and updating in a more timely manner, but a few great things have happened since the beginning of the year that I wanted to be sure to share. Thank you to all of our clients for your love and support. The hubby and I are having a great time with you guys and hope you know that if it weren’t for you trusting us with your memories we wouldn’t be here. We appreciate each and every one of you… even the tiny little clients.  Thank you. <3

Gardens at Old Town Helotes Wedding – Kelley and Daryl

It was indeed a magical day – perfect location, perfect setting, a graceful bride and a handsome groom made it just picture perfect.

The venue for this fairy tale wedding was Gardens at Old Town Helotes. The venue really provides the perfect atmosphere to make your wedding the most treasured event of your life. Located against the backdrop of the Texas Hill Country, this premier event venue offers a fabulous indoor and outdoor accommodation. In short this is a piece of heaven.

Kelley and Daryl were too excited to speak; their expressions spoke for them. The blush on Kelley’s cheeks, the little smile on Daryl’s lips said it all. We not only focus on the bride and groom but also on capturing the moods and delights of the others at the wedding.

Every wedding story is different from the others. Look at how Kelley is excited and overjoyed, she is dancing like a young damsel and Daryl has that serene and graceful smile which creates a different aura around him.

We hope you enjoy the video and pictures from the day.

St. Anthony’s Hotel Wedding: Lauren and Greg

This San Antonio wedding was a luxurious and timeless affair. We reached the Travis Park United Methodist Church to capture Lauren and Greg getting ready and you could feel all the emotions in the air. It was a mixture of love, happiness, and anticipation. Lauren and her bridesmaids got ready in the church’s beautiful bridal suite. My favorite moment from the getting ready was when Lauren’s dad saw her in her dress for the first time. It was a moment no words could capture, only a photograph could.

After Greg and the Guys got ready and had gotten their boutonnieres on. I took them out to take a few pre-ceremony shots outside of Travis Park United Methodist Church. This group of guys was a blast to work with. They kept a constant smile on my face with their antics.

The ceremony was enchanting and full of magical moments. Everyone turned as Lauren walked down the aisle with her father. Greg’s Eyes were fixed on her from the moment those doors opened until the kiss at the alter. Their love was undeniable.

After the bubble filled exit, the couple headed on over to St. Anthony’s Hotel to enjoy the cocktail hour with their guests before the ballroom opened up for dinner. After dinner the band began to play and didn’t stop till the end.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Military Homecoming: Welcome home daddy!

Military families are the epitome of service before self. I see it time and time again. Families separated while one spouse or the other is deployed. It is hard for our soldiers who are away from home and it is hard on the families who are home waiting for their loved one’s return. It’s not every day we have the opportunity to photograph a military homecoming. I received an e-mail a few nights ago from Shakeitha, a military wife and mother whose husband had been deployed for about 6 months. Shakeitha shared with me briefly that her husband was set to arrive, but they were unsure of his arrival date. She really wanted to capture the moment of his arrival and the reaction on her daughters face, as she saw her daddy for the first time in six months. I arrived at the San Antonio Airport in a rush to find Shakeitha and baby waiting for their soldier to arrive. Shakeitha definitely had her hands full as we raced across the airport with a toddler chasing the yellow stripes on the ground and taking snack breaks as we walked past the luggage claim, and it became clear to me, this wasn’t about the amount of time that had passed, but about memories of a little girl growing, who dad may have only seen on pictures or briefly when able to communicate.

We found a good spot front and center to the escalator he would descend. Mom and baby set up their sign and daddy bear was in hand at all times. We sat and we waited.

While waiting, Shakeitha told me that she wasn’t sure if her daughter had understood how long her daddy was gone or if she was maybe too little to understand. This was not the case. Soldier boots came down the escalator and before we could see his face we knew it was their soldier. Shakeitha’s little one immediately started hopping and pointing and shouting “Dada! Dada!” With tears running down my face I began capturing the military homecoming they had all been waiting for. I hugged Shakeitha and her husband and said “Thank you”. Not just for allowing me to share in their memories, but a thank you for protecting my freedom and sacrificing for us all. Truly a moment I will never forget. It is moments like this that make me feel so blessed to be a photographer and live in a country with strangers who fight for me. Thank you to all our military and their families for your sacrifice. I hope you all enjoy these photos as much as I do.

San Antonio Family Portrait Photography: Hardeman

We love family portrait photography. Pamela came to us because she loved the pictures we did for her daughter-in-law Victoria Mayfield. Pamela had really been wanting to get all of her family together to get some family portraits done, but as we all know, sometimes it is easier said than done. We were able come up with a day that everyone could make it into San Antonio for the family portrait photo shoot. The day started of with a little bit of rain, but by the time everyone had arrived the rain had left and the clouds began to part. It turned out that the day was absolutely perfect for pictures and everyone had fun time.
